Teen faces underage alcohol charge

FOXBORO – A son of New England Patriots head football coach Bill Belichick was one of several people arrested at this weekend’s NCAA Men’s Lacrosse Championship games at Gillette Stadium.

Brian C. Belichick, 17, of Weston, was arrested by Foxboro police Monday and charged with being under 21 in the possession of alcohol, subsequent offense, according to the police department.

Belichick, who attends The Rivers School in Weston where he plays lacrosse, and the others arrested were arraigned Tuesday in Wrentham District Court.

About 32,000 fans attended the Division I lacrosse final in which defending champion Syracuse edged out Cornell in overtime.

Bill Belichick is a big lacrosse fan who coached his three children in the sport and played a key role bringing the lacrosse championships to Gillette Stadium the past two years. He grew up in Annapolis, Md., which is a hotbed for the sport and played it in high school and college.

  1. Only 32,000 at the final? I understand the economy nose dive was a shock and prevented travelers from packing up and heading to Boston, sorry, sorry, Foxboro but to lose 13,000 fans in one year is a disaster.

Keep the Final 4 in major cities, not regions.
